It isn't often you are asked to sit for a portrait by one of the most respected young painters in the country, but great friend Robert did just that. So, dressed in a stunning purple and silver lurex 70s evening gown, Dolce & Gabanna shoes and my fabulous Milo Schon 60s opera coat (bought from Violet's shop in Dunedin), armed with lots of glasses of champagne and my side kick Sidney, I sat for hours as Robert dabbed, swished and brushed his way to the most stunning portrait imaginable.
I also brought over to Robert's studio my grandmother's gilt chair from Belgium dated from the 1800s. I felt very regal sitting in this for my portrait. It was such a great experience.![]() |
