Club Couture lunch at Pier 24, St Clair Resort, Dunedin

A definite highlight of my week in Dunedin was a lunch hosted by the id Committee to thank generous sponsors of Fashion Week with an exclusive lunch held at Pier 24, the superb restaurant at the St Clair Resort. I was the guest speaker and was invited to show off some of the couture garments from the collection. Michael Coughlin, the esteemed chef at Pier 24, chose 4 countries and produced a menu to compliment the couture outfits models paraded during the lunch. Here is what we sampled:
1st Course: France: Parisian fish broth, lobster essence, saffron & tomato under puff pastry lid, rouille
Wine match: Rockburn Sauvignon Blanc
Fashion match: Chanel suit from the 60s, Lanvin dresses from the 70s
2nd Course: Italy: Green pea risotto, seared scallops, burnt sage butter & lemon, prosciutto dust, crisp sage leaves
Wine match: Rockburn Chardonnay
Fashion match: Milo Schon opera coat from the 60s
3rd Course: New Zealand: Roast lamb loin, watercress & thyme stuffing, warm honey-roasted carrot & parsnip salad, fresh mint dressing
Wine match: Rockburn Pinot Noir
Fashion Match: Fenn Dell 60s long evening dress
4th Course: England: 'Eaton Mess' layered meringue, lemon mascarpone, strawberries, pomegranate syrup
Fashion Match: Zandra Rhodes dress from her 1983 collection called 'Chinese Constructivism'
